What role do muscle relaxers play in management of whiplash?

Mike W., MD -

Interesting question: My experience is that they don't do much. Cyclobenzaprine is mostly helpful (or unhelpful) for it's sedative effects but doesn't do much for muscle relaxation. The others are pretty expensive - I would stick mostly w combo acet/ibu every 6-8 hours, heat, stretching and tincture of time!
