I am a former pediatrician turned urgent care doc. Please see the followup commentary by Dr Pichichero (link below), who originally studied the 5-day course for AOM. I will say that in my 12 years of practice, I have been using 5 day course of ABX for AOM, following his guidelines, and have seen exactly 1 failure. This new article, therefore, will not change my practice.
