A boxer's fracture involves the distal aspect of the metacarpal bone of the little finger. If the angulation of the fracture is less than 40 degrees, reduction is not necessary. A laceration accompanying the fracture, on the dorsal aspect of the hand, may be from a 'fight bite' when striking a mouth or tooth. Antibiotic prophylaxis involves amoxicillin/clavulanate (Augmentin) 875 orally twice a day.
