DAVID M. -

Hello.

In the August, 2021 presentation of Peds Rap, Drs. Benaroch and Simon asked if the Dr. Quincke of “Quincke’s pulse” was related to the Dr. Quincke who first described idiopathic intracranial hypertension. A quick search of Wikipedia (what else) shows that he is one and the same person. He was an Internist and Surgeon in Germany who described Quincke’s pulse in 1882 and then idiopathic intracranial hypertension in 1883, which he called serous meningitis. For information you can “Google” Heinrich Irenaeus Quincke. Although, be careful when you type Quincke as Google wants to autocorrect to Quiche.

You learn something new everyday,

David Meehan, MD

Solomon B., MD -

Thx for doing the research David! Now I’m going to finish off my breakfast of quincke and OJ! ;)
