COPD can be a big, unwieldy topic in primary care. Thank goodness we have pulmonologist Dr. Kathryn Robinett to walk us through a practical, real world approach to the evaluation, classification, and management of COPD in our primary care practices. Spoiler alert: it’s not always about the Gold criteria.

While I enjoyed most of this podcast, I found one very large hole in it. And I don't mean how rofulimast didn't get mentioned.
When you got to treatment, you briefly mentioned inhaler therapy but there was no discussion about the first line therapy for COPD and the only one that leads to any long-term benefits - SMOKING CESSATION.
With my smoking COPD patients, I make it very clear that any therapy I or the eventual respirologist (that's pulmonologist in Canadian) will prescribe is only buying them some symptoms relief and that without quitting smoking, we are fighting a losing battle. I suggest future editions of COPD talks reminds us of this more prominently.
