Just published in the February 2016 edition of Chest, "Antithrombotic Therapy for VTE Disease" sheds some light on a few of the confusing aspects of VTE management. In this short, we discuss outpatient management of pulmonary embolism; what to do when a patient is therapeutic on an oral anticoagulant but has a breakthrough clot; should we treat or observe patients with calf clots; and first line treatment of new clots.
