Atrial fibrillation is a very common arrhythmia characterized by an irregularly irregular pulse. Evaluation and treatment can be done in the outpatient setting unless the patients is hemodynamically unstable. Anticoagulation to prevent stroke is top priority and this can be done with NOACs or warfarin. Rate control may be considered in rare circumstances. ECHO, TSH, sleep study looking for OSA are part of the work-up. Cardiology referral should be considered non-urgent unless there are concerning features or comorbities.
