Andrew and Heidi discuss the new AHA Hypertension guidelines that were released in November. Spoiler: even though they try really, really, REALLY hard to keep an open mind, our intrepid podcasters are not impressed.

Ian L., Dr -

There is a caveat .
If postural hypotension is averted in the 65 plus say kept to 130/85 Standing there will likely be less intracerebral bleeding when there is cerebral amyloid angiopathy according to current trending literature
The balance re cerebral perfusion when there is large artery narrowing including narrowing of the carotid artery is awaiting the clinical tests .

Heidi J., MD -

Good points, Ian. Thank-you!
